Prior to receiving lip injections, a topical numbing agent will be applied to the area to allow for patient comfort.  In some instances, some bruising and swelling following treatment is normal and typically subsides in a few days. Less common side effects include redness, mild pain, lumps and itching.

Following treatment, we provide an ice pack to help soothe the treated area. We will also schedule a follow up appointment in about two weeks after lip filler to ensure you are completely happy with your result and perform any touch-ups that may be needed.

Don't Just Take Our Word For It

“I’m a college student and wanted to be sure that I went to a reputable practice to have my lip fillers done and not just a day spa, like some of my friends did. I felt more comfortable with a Plastic Surgeon performing my lip fillers, and Dr. Bowen was great! My friends are so envious, I couldn’t be happier. I’ll definitely be back, no matter how far away I live!” ~ Corla

The most common types of lip filler are Juvederm Ultra, Juvederm Ultra Plus, Juvederm Volbella, and Revance RHA. These fillers are all made from hyaluronic acid but differ in their thickness and how they look in the lip. During the consultation process with Dr. Diane Bowen the desired outcome is discussed, which helps to determine what type of filler is needed to achieve those results.

Some areas of the mouth have a little more sensitivity than others. Keep in mind this treatment is relatively short, about 30 minutes, and extra measures are taken to help with any discomfort.
