Dr. Diane Bowen
Dr. Bowen is a Board-Certified plastic surgeon offering high-end services and unparalleled care for her patients. Golden Isles Center for Plastic Surgery is built around Dr. Bowen’s artistic and detail-oriented eye for cosmetic surgery. She delivers natural looking aesthetic results that are individually tailored to meet each person’s needs.
Dr. Diane Bowen received her Bachelor of Arts from Emory University in Atlanta in 1983 and her medical degree from Medical College of Georgia in 1987. She completed her general surgery training at Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, where she was Chief Surgical Resident and Chief Resident for the resident staff.
In addition to her residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Tennessee in Memphis, Dr. Bowen completed additional fellowships in pediatric plastic surgery in Akron, Ohio and in breast reconstruction and cosmetic surgery at Georgetown University in Washington, DC.
She grew up coming to St. Simons Island for vacations with her parents and determined to return to the area once she completed training. She opened Golden Isles Center for Plastic Surgery in 1997 and has provided plastic surgery care in the area for over 25 years. She moved into her newly renovated facility in 2021.
The facility located on 2485 Demere Rd., Suite 103A includes a newly renovated procedural suite and aesthetics medical spa, which allows for comprehensive and confidential plastic surgery care from start to finish. Meghan received her Bachelor of Science from Marist College located in Poughkeepsie, New York in 2005. She started off her managerial career as an Assistant Store Manager for a large retail corporation where she learned valuable communication skills and how to motivate a team to achieve common goals. Over 8 years, she worked for the same corporation where she received numerous promotions up to district manager where she oversaw 7 locations.
Meghan left the management role to pursue her passion for esthetics. She got her esthetics certification from New York Institute of Beauty in 2012. Meghan has worked in various types of spa locations ranging from day spa to medical environments. Meghan joined Dr. Bowen’s team in 2016 as an Esthetician. She received her Microblading certification in 2016 and practices in Golden Isles Center for Plastic Surgery. Meghan was promoted to her Office Manager role in 2018 and loves that she can utilize her two passions of skin and people to have a fulfilling career. In her free time, she stays active and enjoys the outdoors with her husband and young daughter.
Patient Care Coordinator
Wendy is a people person and truly enjoys helping others. She takes the time to get to know each patient as they come to our office. Wendy takes a lot of pride in advising patients on a procedure, treatment or skincare regimen that helps them achieve results and makes a person feel good about themselves. Wendy was blessed with a son at a young age and was financially strained. Out of high school she decided to work full time and build a career in retail. She provided for herself and her son. She worked hard and had an eagerness to learn. She worked her way up into a management position and managed several stores in Georgia. She moved into a career of hospitality and loved working in that field for 20 years. After covid, she joined our team at Golden Isles Center for Plastic Surgery. Wendy is the first voice you will hear when you call to schedule an appointment or ask a question. She is friendly, compassionate, and looks forward to helping you with your rejuvenation goals.
Shonda graduated from Pensacola Christian College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing and began her nursing career in Oncology. She continued her career as a home health nurse where she grew her passion caring for others. Shonda is happily married and was blessed to be able to stay home with their four children and homeschool them for over 20 years. Shonda is excited and enjoying the opportunity of being back in the medical field since joining Golden Isles Center for Plastic Surgery in 2020. Shonda will most likely be the friendly face that helps you while in a treatment or consultation with Dr. Bowen. In her personal time, she enjoys serving in her local church, date nights with her husband and spending quality time with her grown children.
Registered Nurse Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA)
Erica spent most of her life in the Charleston, SC region. She moved up and down the east coast as an adult with her husband due to his job in the federal government. They have now settled in the Golden Isles calling this beautiful area their home.
Erica graduated from the College of Charleston with a Bachelor of Communication Studies in 2001. After a few years in banking as a manager, Erica went back to school to attain her Associates of Science in Nursing. She has worked as a RN in surgical services since 2011.
The majority of Erica’s career has been in the operating room as a circulating nurse. She is a Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) demonstrating a commitment to upholding the highest standards in patient safety. She dedicated her time and energy to becoming proficient in scrubbing and earned her certificate as a RN First Assist in surgery. Erica is Dr. Bowen’s assistant in surgery both at the Golden Isles Center for Plastic Surgery and the local Brunswick hospital.
In Erica’s free time she enjoys traveling with her husband and two young boys. She loves being outdoors, running, cooking, and relaxing with her family.
Darlene hails from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia. She spent most of her adult life in Northern Virginia and Annapolis, Maryland working as a Dental Assistant, Medical/Dental Insurance Claims Processor and Licensed Realtor, all the while dreaming of becoming a surgical nurse. Her love of medicine culminated with the proud acceptance of her Registered Nurse degree from Brunswick College School of Nursing in 1993.
This launched her 22-year career at Southeast Georgia Health System as an Operating Room Nurse, retiring in 2015. Darlene joined Dr. Diane Bowen’ s staff in May 2016 as her Surgical Nurse. She will greet you on your surgical day with her characteristic smile and good humor, welcoming you with “I’m Darlene, your Surgical Nurse. I will be with you before, during, and after your surgery.” Darlene is married, has 2 adult children and 3 grandchildren. She hunts, camps, fishes with her husband and shares his love of their 4 dogs and 2 cats.
